The ELSS calculator is designed to help investors estimate the potential value of their investments based on a few key inputs. It works for both Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs) and lumpsum investments. Please note that the results are based on assumed inputs and are only indicative.
In case of SIP
To estimate returns for a SIP in ELSS enter the following
  • Monthly Investment Amount - The amount you plan to invest at regular intervals.
  • Investment Frequency - Choose how often you would like to invest.
  • Expected Rate of Return - This is an assumed annual return rate which you can enter based on historical trends or personal expectations.
  • Investment Tenure - The duration (in years) you intend to continue your SIP.
In case of Lumpsum
  • Investment Amount - The total amount you plan to invest upfront.
  • Expected Rate of Return - An assumed annual return rate.
  • Investment Duration - The number of years you intend to remain invested.
After filling in these details the calculator will show an illustrative maturity amount based on your inputs.

How to Calculate ELSS Maturity Amount?

The ELSS maturity amount is estimated from your investment, tenure and assumed return. Figures are illustrative only actual results may vary with market conditions
Formula for ELSS Investment Calculation
  1. For Lumpsum Investments
Future Value (FV) = C × (1 + r)^t
FVEstimated future value
CInitial lumpsum investment
rAssumed annual rate of return (in decimal)
tInvestment duration in years
2. For SIP Investments
FV = P × [((1 + r)^n − 1) / r] × (1 + r)
PMonthly SIP amount
rAssumed monthly rate of return
nTotal number of SIP installments

This formula takes into account the compounding effect of regular investments and helps you plan your financial goals effectively.

Example of ELSS Funds Calculator

  1. Lumpsum Investment Example - An investor makes a one-time investment of 1,00,000 in an ELSS fund for 5 years assuming an annual return of 12% Using the formula FV = 100000 × (1 + 0.12)^5 = 1,76,234
  2. SIP Investment Example - An investor invests 3,000 per month for 4 years assuming a 12% annual return Using the formula FV = 3,000 × [((1 + 0.01)^48 – 1) / 0.01] × (1 + 0.01) = 1,83,046
